Barbecue cleaning in East Cambridgeshire
£80 between May and August, cleaned in the garden rather than taken away. Grills and plates come off and soak, the same as oven racks, and cast iron goes back dried and oiled.

How much does barbecue cleaning cost? £80 between May and August. On a gas barbecue the burner tubes and the flavouriser bars get the attention, because blocked ports are why one side cooks faster than the other, and all we need from you is somewhere to work and a tap.
What it costs
Anywhere inside 12 miles of Burwell at no extra cost, and a flat £10 beyond that, said before you book. Tell us the make and your village and the price comes back fixed in writing, not as an estimate.
Published locally: barbecue, £85. Ours is £80. Where that figure comes from.
Seasonal, May to August. The two ends of the season are the sensible times: before it gets used, or before it goes away for winter.

What comes off a barbecue
- The grills and the griddle plates
- The flavouriser bars or heat tents over the burners, on a gas one
- The drip tray and the grease cup
- The ash pan and the bowl, on a charcoal one
Grills and plates soak the same way oven racks do, because scrubbing carbon off cast iron in place ruins the surface and takes three times as long. On a gas barbecue the burner tubes and the bars above them matter more than the shine, and they are the part a wire brush never reaches.
What doing it yourself cannot reach
- The underside of the grills and the bars beneath them
- Inside the burner tubes, where the ports block and the heat goes uneven
- The grease cup and the channel that feeds it, which is the fire risk
Gas or charcoal?
Both, and they dirty in completely different ways, which changes what actually takes the time.
- Gas
- Grease in the burner tubes, the flavouriser bars and the drip channel. Cleaning it is as much about how evenly it cooks as how it looks.
- Charcoal
- Ash and carbon on the grills and through the bowl, and the vents that control the heat block up with it.
- Cast iron grates
- Stripped back, dried and re-oiled before we go, because bare cast iron will rust within a day of being cleaned.
- Enamelled or stainless
- Soaked and polished. No wire wool on enamel, for the same reason as an AGA.
Where we come to
Gardens across the whole patch, and a barbecue is one of the few jobs that does not need us inside the house at all.

What people say afterwards
Booked on the Tuesday, done on the Thursday. The door glass came up like new and the kitchen was tidier than when he arrived.
Placeholder name, Ely
Quoted over the phone and that was the price. No fuss, no upselling, and the oven stopped smoking the first time we used it.
Placeholder name, Soham
Took the door apart to do between the glass, which the last lot would not do. Worth it for that alone.

Questions people ask about barbecue cleaning
When is the best time to have a barbecue cleaned?
Either end of the season. Before May so it is ready, or in September before it goes away for winter, because grease left on over winter sets hard and rusts the grills underneath it. We do them between May and August at £80.
Gas or charcoal, does it matter?
Both, and they dirty differently. A gas barbecue collects grease in the burner tubes and the flavouriser bars, which affects how it lights and how evenly it cooks. A charcoal one is mostly ash and carbon on the grills and the bowl.
Do you take it away?
No. It is cleaned where it stands, in the garden or on the patio, so nothing gets loaded into a van and nothing comes back a week later. We need somewhere to work and a tap.
What happens if it rains on the day?
We move it, and there is nothing to pay for moving it. The soaking and the scrubbing happen outside on your patio, and doing it in heavy rain is miserable and worse work, so if the forecast is against us we say so the day before and pick another date.
What about the grills themselves?
They come off and soak, the same as oven racks. Cast iron grates get dried and re-oiled afterwards rather than left wet, because bare cast iron rusts within a day of being stripped back.
Why does my gas barbecue cook unevenly?
Usually blocked burner ports and flavouriser bars caked in grease, which stop the heat spreading the way it should. Clearing them is part of the clean, and it is the part that changes how the barbecue cooks rather than only how it looks.
Can the barbecue be done on the same visit as the oven?
Yes, between May and August. The two are priced separately and simply added together, and doing both in one visit means one trip rather than two, with the travel charged once if you are outside the free ring.
